Korea Research Institute for Local Administration(KRILA) hosted the 19th Korea-Japan Regional Policy Research Workshop with the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies(GRIPS) on May 29th, 2019 in Tokyo, Japan.
Its theme this year was “Efforts and Achievements of Local Governance and Autonomous Decentralization Development in Korea and Japan,” and the workshop was attended by about 50 academics and local government officials from Korea and Japan.
It began with the opening remarks of Mr. Yokomichi Kiyotaka, the director of GRIPS, and was followed by the greetings of Mr. Kwon Oh-Chul, the vice president of KRILA.
In the first thematic session, Dr. Kim Pil-doo, chief of the Autonomy and Decentralization Research Center of KRILA, presented "The Activation Plan for Community Autonomy Centered on Resident's Association." In the second session, Dr. Choi Ji-min and Dr. Kim Ji-soo, Associate Research follow of KRILA, delivered a presentation on "Innovative Attempts to Solve Regional Problems: Social innovation and Regional Innovation." In the final session, Prof. Takada Hirofumi, of GRIPS, presented "The Traces of Local Autonomy in Japan."
