The Korea Local Administration Review

This study examined factors of neighborhood relations of single-person households by asking whether these factors differed between North and South Regions in Gyeonggi Province. We analyzed the 「The First Survey of Quality of Life in Gyeonggi Province」 and employed a multiple regression analysis. The empirical analysis showed that satisfaction of community space and pedestrian environment had positive effect on neighborhood relations. Specifically, living-cultural facilities in community space and walking conditions, safety from disasters and accidents in pedestrian environment have been confirmed as important factors. And the effect of factors in pedestrian environment on neighborhood relations was greater than community space. In addition, the effect of these factors on neighborhood relations differed between North and South of Gyeonggi Province. The results of this study provided policy implication for figuring out considerations in enhancing neighborhood relations of single households.
