Multicultural families in Korean society have increased rapidly during2006~2015. According to government figures, more than 50 percent of thefamilies with multicultural backgrounds belonged to the lowest income bracket andhad trouble adjusting to living in local community. So, this study focuses on publicpolicy and the dilemmas faced by the governments of increasingly diversesocieties. The primary purpose of this study was to analyze characteristics,determining factors and recommendations for adjustment of multicultural familiesin local community. The hypothesis and empirical results of this study was thatthe features of adjustment of multicultural families in local community weremainly determined by many factors, such as demographic factors, communicationfactors, psychological factors, institutional factors, governmental factors, localenvironmental factors. In conclusion, the policy implications were largely derivedfrom this results which may improve adjustment of multicultural families in localcommunity for successful multi-cultural society in Korea.
