This paper studies foreign worker policy supports in a local governmentcontext with a case study of Gunpo city. The study reviewed foreign workerstatistics and support policies, and performed foreign worker surveys, thensuggested to the foreign worker policy support of Gunpo city upon the foundissues during the study.First, on the institutional aspect, acts supporting foreign workers withresidencies in local governments should be implemented and support plansshould be established. Should empower the role of foreign worker supportingteams with role allocations among local government, central government andNGOs. Auditing and monitoring functions of foreign worker labor rights shouldbe reinforced, and policy supports for medical care, work environment andresidential environments are necessary at local government scales.Second, on the operational aspect, change of recognition on foreign workers,Korean language education and settlement training is necessary. In addition,encouraging foreign workers to have health insurance and supporting culturalactivities are necessary.
