A Study on Gender Issues of Medical Service Improvement Plan at Rural Areas - With Special Regard to Case of Gyeongnam Province -

This study was to conduct to assess the gender impact of medical improvement plan at rural areas. This plan aiming at promoting qualities of medical services throughout improvement of facilities and equipments of public health centers from 1994. For the study, based on the result of about the medical service improvement plan at rural areas, gender impact assessment gender issues were derived and some betterment subjects were presented. First, in setting up or decision stage, it is required to make a project to strongly reflect the current demands by the distinction of gender, like the rate of disease according to the gender of local residents and include the experts of rural and state clearly female's portion in the committee. Second, in operating stage, the gender equality could be monitored as inspecting client's gender and population ratio in a city or town. Finally, in evaluation stage, the gainer's satisfactory rate and requirement should be shown in the system in which the facility is settled down and the equipment is provided. especially, it is required to compile and report sex-segregated data on each phase of implementing the plan and report by the distinction of gender as a key value in the survey for the performance of sub-programs.
