In the trend of globalization and the number of domestic foreign residents has continually increased up to 1.5% of the total population of Korea.
However, Koreans take an unfriendly attitude to domestic foreign residents and they are not yet ready to accept them as their true neighbor. Especially, due to a rapid growth of domestic foreign residents and wedding-immigrants, social problems like human-rights, illegal stay, social adaptation, and education are being raised.
Nevertheless, the domestic policies for domestic foreign residents are mostly promoted by a partial department of the Central Government, and the actual support policy by local autonomous entities is insufficient.
Therefore, it is necessary to build fundamental and comprehensive support from the national level as well as to start active management from the local level.
This study shows a plan to reinforce the efficient administrative system and to offer an administrative service for domestic foreign residents from the local level with an intention to help their adaptation to their local communities as well as to contribute to stabilization of local communities and national unification.
