The Korea Research Institute for Local Administration(KRILA) hosted the 11th Korea-Japan Joint Seminar at 2p.m. on Febuary 5th at the Auditorium of the Korea Research Institute for Local Administration(KRILA) on the theme of "Sustainable Regional Revitalization Plan leveraging Covid-19 Experience" in collaboration with Council of Local Authorities for International Relations(CLAIR)
Due to the 2.5th stage of social distancing in the Seoul metropolital area, the seminar was held in a form of a webinar and broadcast live on YouTube(Korean and Japanese Channels). The Korea Research Institute for Local Administration(KRILA) and Council of Local Authorities for International Relations(CLAIR) shared experiences of both Japanese and Korean local governments about regional revitalization strategies for shaping the Post Covid-19 world and enriched the discourse with diverse perspectives in the face of current situation with the participation of experts from each field such as Bae Deuk-jong (Professor of Global Administration at Yonsei University), Yeo Hyo-sung (Associate Research Fellow at KRILA), Oh Il-man (Seoul Newspaper Editorial Writer), Lee Won-hee (Professor of Public Administration at Han Kyung University), Moon Jung-hee (Director for Planning at Gyeonggi-do), Kimura Shunske (Professor of Graduate School of Global Governance at Meiji University) and Waki Masaaki (Councilor at Policy Bureau of Kanagawa Province).
Kim Il-jae (the President of KRILA) stated that the world is facing the worst crisis due to Covid-19 and now all the countries including Korea and Japan have coped with the pandemic to help people return to everyday life. He also mentioned that not only the With Covid-19 countermeasures are required in the short term but also is necessary to seek for strategies to revitalize the regions in the long run in order to overcome the challenges.
